Remarks

The ABO gene in this assembly produces a truncated protein without functional glycosyltransferase activity, thus indicative of blood group O. In fact, the gene is split between clones bA244N20 and bA430N14, both of which encode truncated proteins. However, these clones contain different alleles, and this tile path has caused a chimeric form of the locus to be produced that does not exist in nature. The locus is scheduled to be repaired by the Genome Reference Consortium
